Inspections

THURSDAY 1ST
Up early this morning to be at the house by 7.30am to meet with our SS to go through the house.
First thing he told us was that Porter Davis don't allow dogs on the site due to OH & S....weekends are fine...that was okay as we don't go on site while there are workmen there...well not yet any way.
Were there any errors...you bet, not alot tho....lets see...the french doors in the master bedroom are opening inwards instead of outwards...the bi-fold frame is wrong...we want a four door opening from right to left, the frame they gave us is for four doors, but for 3 doors going right to left while the other door is a single door going left to right....honestly how hard is it to read the requirements and make sure that the right items are delivered.
We were worried about the window in the dining room as we had requested it to be centered in the wall but it was 13cm over towards the left, he explained that if they put it dead centre it would put the bricking out of alignement...thats okay but why not tell us on the Tuesday when we had pointed it out to him.
Tony had already spoken to him to see if we could get the height of the opening into the study made taller to be in line with the garage door, this shouldn't be a problem, in fact he marked the floor with bright fluro pink paint to get it changed.
The only other thing that I could see that was wrong were the hinges on the doors.....in our colour selections we had requested that all the external doors have brass hinges and what did they give us?....you guessed it....silver! again, why dont they read the bloody forms...grrrrr.
Otherwise we were happy with what we saw - a enormous house.
We had a meeting with Alex our Inspector at 10, so we went home to drop Mia off and to have breaky...we were just getting ready to go back to the house when Alex rang, he had arrived early on the off chance that we were still there.
It took an hour plus for him to do his Inspection...there were a few things that he would liked fixed but overall he said it was a good build.
Funny thing is, even if the bi-fold frame had been correct we would have to get another one as this one has a sizable chip out of it.
We have a few high spots in the slab, one in the hallway and one in the entry to the bathroom...apparently they should be ground down before the carpet goes down.
While Alex was inspecting the house we had a delivery....our gutters and facias arrived...woo hoo....so naturally we took thousands of pics :)
Gutters and facias
