We have furniture coming out of our ears.....Furniture that we placed an order on in October to be made in January (now), which were to take about 3 months to make, then would be held for a month, have....you guessed it....turned up NOW!!
This now means that we have to get an extra storage unit to put it all in....more money..
All this and still not a start date in sight for our house....guess we can take all the furniture down to the block and live on it :)

More Shopping
To continue on from the previous post with our shopping....
I like to be organised, I'd like to think that we have got just about everything we need for the new house with the exception of window furnishings and rugs....the latter we will buy once we've moved in, as I'd hate to get the wrong size for the rooms.
So, what have we acquired you may ask.....lets see
A lounge suite...for the family room - currently we have two 2 seater couches which neither Tony nor myself can sit it, so Kelly is taking them and putting them into her sitting room.
A couch and 2 slingback chairs for the lounge.
A 4 seater home theatre entertainment suite.
2 wing back chairs for our parent retreat.
Coffee tables, lamp tables, entertainment unit for various rooms.
Lamps, mirrors, lighting for the whole house, vases, ornaments.
2 Bar stools...yay, we finally have a bench to sit at.
We bought a eight foot mirror for our dining room off my step-brother...it is so big and HEAVY, currently it is at my mums, we did have a beautiful wall unit with cupboards on top, unfortunatley it didn't fit into the new house so my friend bought it off us and i'm pleased to say that it looks great in her house, so i still get to see it, we will be purchasing a extra long buffet to go under the mirror, this we will order with in the next few months.

Not a lot has happened since the last post.
We are STILL waiting to start building.
BUT today we received our Certificate of Insurance through the post, so i guess thats a step in the right direction.
Apparently the results of our "new" soil test should be available this week...maybe then we can get our Building Permit and set the ball rolling.
So what have we been doing in the mean time.....shopping is what we've been doing, and lots of it too :)
As you know we sold our house mid 09, and settled at the end of September, since then we are living with our son Adrian (Twiggy) and his fiance Ashleigh, while our daughter Kelly has moved in with my mum on the other side of town.
We sold the house for alot more than we thought we would, so therefore we have been able to indulge and buy furniture, some we have taken possession of while other pieces have been placed on order to be made late March.
All our household possessions are in storage, so anything we buy has to also go into storage...at the rate we're going we are going to have to get another container...but we have been wise little shoppers and have managed to get nearly everything at a discount price..for something to do the other day we added up everything we've bought or ordered and worked out that we have saved 30% off the full price.
And before you ask...No, we haven't just bought things for the sake of buying them...we have moved out of a townhouse and are going into a 37sq house...alot of the rooms would be empty, couldn't have that now, could we?
Our latest buy was a 4 piece outdoor lounge setting...we went shopping with Adrian looking for items for him, when we saw this one...it was comfy to sit in and a very good price....we ummed and arred and said okay...especially as it comes flat packed, which will make it easier to store.

Finally....A pic of our facade
We have been trying to find a pic of our facade for quite awhile...it was a hard road to travel as the facade we chose is now no longer available...mind you we have a facade that isn't available on a house that is no longer available...go figure.
Anyway while going through our emails from our builder tonight I found this which was sent to us in Feb 09 from our sales consultant, boy i love that man!
So, this is it, the Malvern facade from Porter Davis, what is strange is that all the colourings in the pic are nearly identical to the ones that we ending up chosing, the only thing that is different is that we have grey tiles instead of the colourbond.

Builders!!
This is the state of our block courtesy of the builders next door. We have spoken to them and they will fix the crossover and remove the rubbish. All we have to do is to email them the pics and contact our builder to see when they would like the crossover to be done...before or after they build our place.....personally i'd opt for before.Tuesday, December 22, 2009

Soil Update...
After numerous unreturned phone calls and unanswered emails, I went down to Porter Davis this morning to catch our CSC before she went into meetings.
Don't think she was too impressed to see me there at that time of the morning but stiff...told her i was there because she hadn't responded to us and that we had to resolve the issue of the soil or non soil testing.
Pointed out to her that the only real issue we had was with the report on what they had found in the soil cores.....how can you do a report when you haven't done the cores?...
And that we didn't want to be held up in getting our house started, that was when she dropped the bombshell that we weren't starting till mid February...Shit a brick...we had previously been told that we were starting in January...okay so its only two weeks later but that doesn't help Tony who when we move into our new house will now have finished his holidays....he cant change them again as there is now no time available the weeks have all been filled.
In the end we agreed to have a 3rd (2nd?) test done by a different company, if the results come in similar to the phantom test then we will have to pay for the testing but if they come in different then PD will pay for them. We wont be penalised for not starting in Jan...just as well as its not our fault.
So, come the New Year we will have a new soil test done, PD will finally order our building permit, final plans will be drawn up and maybe, just maybe we can get this house started.
